The Executive Director of the Good Governance Advocacy Group, Ghana, Listowel Nana Kusi Poku has made a shocking allegation against the newly appointed Acting Executive Secretary of the National Commission on Small Arms and Light Weapons (NACSA) Dr Adam Bonaa.
According to Listowel Nana Kusi Poku, Adam Bona has been supplying guns to Bawku.
Listowel Nana Kusi Poku further claimed John Mahama has legitimized Dr Adam Bonaa’s trade being appointing him as the Acting Executive Secretary of the National Commission on Small Arms and Light Weapons (NACSA).
Speaking on live TV, Listowel Nana Kusi Poku detailed, “His father was a police, how can a son of a police become a security expert, which security school did he attend and he claims to have a security title, and the media has been calling him on the radio and TV.
Even I Listowel who saw a little bit of the military am not called a security expert, someone when a gun is placed before him cannot even tell how to disassemble and reassemble the gun.
He is part of the people supplying guns to Bawku and you have given Small Arms and Light Weapons to him, so you have legitimized his stock in trade”, he stated.
Listowel Nana Kusi Poku further questioned Adam Bonaa qualification as a Doctor.
“Adam Bonaa who claims to be a Doctor, where did he get his doctorate from, where did he get his PhD, this is a man who was sacked from the UK for criminality, let ask the question what did he do at the Wa Secondary School during the six form regime in the 80s. Listowel Nana Kusi Poku further descended on President John Mahama for making certain appointments which he claims the president wants to destroy the country”, he added.

“Mahama if he wants to destroy this country he should let us know, yes, the appointments John Mahama is making he wants to destroy the country”, he added.
Meanwhile, there has been an escalation of violence following the resurgence of a long-standing chieftaincy conflict in Bawku.
Irate youth in Walewale have also vandalized the North East Regional Minister’s vehicle in protest.
According to reports the youth in Walewale are protesting against a 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM curfew imposed by the Interior Minister, Muntaka Mohammed.
Reports some few days ago revealed a group of unidentified armed men reportedly launched an attack on a cargo truck in Walewale, in the North East Region setting the vehicle and its contents on fire.
There have also been reports of a five-month-old baby who has sadly lost her life in Bawku.
The government has urged residents to remain calm and seek peaceful solutions. A ban on carrying weapons has also been enforced, with offenders facing arrest and prosecution.
The Minister for the Interior, on the advice of the North East Regional Security Council and by Executive Instrument, has imposed a curfew on Walewale and its environs in the North East Region from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am, effective Saturday, February 15, 2025.
Government calls on the Chiefs, Elders, Opinion Leaders, Youth and people of the area to exercise restraint in the face of the challenges confronting them as well as to use non-violent means to channel their energies into ensuring peace.
Meanwhile, there is a total ban on all persons in Walewale and its environs from carrying arms, ammunition or any offensive weapons and any persons found with any arms or ammunition will be arrested and prosecuted.
