A leading member of the Movement for Change Solomon Owusu has boldly stated a significant number of our youth are thieves when you give them employment.
According to Solomon Owusu, a lot of the Ghanaian youths he has employed have stolen from him.
Solomon Owusu further stated that some of the Ghanaians are the problem of the day after you give them employment.
Speaking on TV3 New Day Solomon Owusu stated, “We are always clamouring that the government opens businesses, the private sector creates employment and so on, but I dare say that we have a sizeable number of our youthful population who are also thieves when you give them employment.
If I tell you my own experience with the number of people that I have employed, and how they have stolen from me, the young man thinks that whatever you have today he has to have it in a month”, he added.
Solomon Owusu business owners instead of opening up their businesses are now going to buy the government treasury over fear of these young people.
He added, “Other than that why will people go and invest their money in the government treasury when they could have used it to open up their business because the person you are going to offer employment to, is a problem of the day, how those quiz people say it”.
“The problem of the day are some of the youths that we engage so they must also begin to change their attitude so that the private entrepreneurs would have that confidence in expanding their businesses to absorb them, Government is not the surest way of giving you employment”, he stated.
Meanwhile, some Ghanaian youths on X have expressed their opinion, saying, “Pure facts. We still need to sanitize the minds of the youth through conversations and counselling on work ethics. Regardless, they need the jobs and we must also set up control systems that prevent theft and introduce punitive measures for stealing”.
“I don’t blame him or anyone. All their family members and relatives are employed through connections. Those of us without anyone to help are seen as thieves. It’s well documented”, another stated.
An X user also stated, “A significant number of employees don’t pay well, guess this has led to thievery in the workplaces 🤦🏽♂️”.
One more user stated, “ I can bet on my life that he is right, the youth of today don’t like work.. they want a get rich quick scheme.. they don’t appreciate earning genuine steady income, therefore lackadaisical attitude towards work and they’ll subsequently collapse your business..my money now in BTC😎”.
Additionally, another user stated Solomon Owusu has a point but employers are exploiting their employees, he wrote, “ He has a point though But the problem is, most employers are exploiting their employees with the perception that they are rather helping them. There is no actual appreciation of the work done. So employees also with the attempt of being smart do what they can to gain extra”.
