A greater portion of the Ghanaian public have backed Speaker Alban Bagbin’s decision to suspend four (4) Members of Parliament (MPs).
According to a poll conducted by Global Info Analytics, a whooping seventy-nine percent (79%) of citizens agree with the Speaker’s decision while twelve percent (12%) disagree, with nine percent (9%) of respondents being indifferent.
This data was revealed in a poll conducted by Global Info Analytics between January 30 and February 1, 2025.
Four (4) members of Parliament were suspended over their involvement in the scuffle that happened in Parliament on the night of Thursday, January 30, 2025.
Majority and Minority Chief Whips, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor and Frank Annoh-Dompreh have been suspended together with Alhassan Tampuli and Jerry Ahmed Shaib were suspended by Speaker Alban Bagbin.
Speaker Alban Bagbin has set up a 7-Member Committee to be headed by Ho West MP, Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah and given them ten (10) days to investigate the matter.
The Clerk of Parliament has also been directed to file a criminal report with the Ghana Police Service for possible prosecution.
Also, a full assessment of the damage caused during the scuffle will be carried out and person’s responsible surcharged.
