The Attorney-General’s office has suddenly withdrawn charges against Bishop Salifu Amoako, his wife, and one other individual.
The were discharged by the Accra High Court on Monday, February 17, 2025 in relation to the tragic East Legon accident case involving their son, Elrad Salifu Amoako.
They were however re-arrested moments after being discharged by the court.
The case revolves around a tragic accident that occurred on October 12, 2024, in East Legon, Accra, where two young girls lost their lives.
Bishop Salifu Amoako, a prominent religious leader, and his wife were initially relieved when the court discharged them. However, their relief was short-lived as they were swiftly re-arrested by law enforcement officers outside the courtroom.

Bishop Elijah Salifu Amoako, his wife Mouha Amoako, and Linda Bonsu Bempah, a sales assistant, were arrested after their 16-year-old son, caused a fatal accident which resulted in the death of two (2) in East Legon on October 12, 2024.
According to the Ghana Police Service statement, Elrad was driving a Jaguar SUV crashed into a 4×4 Acura vehicle driven by Joseph Ackah with four occupants.
The prosecutor in the case, Elrad Amoako, was leading a 3-SUV convoy with his friends in East Legon.
Despite the presence of other cars, Salifu Amoako’s son decided to show off the speed of the Jaguar F-Pace Sport while leading a 3-SUV convoy with his friends from A&C mall.
Meanwhile, Elrad Salifu has been sentenced to six months after his involvement in the East Legon accident.
During the proceedings at the Family and Juvenile Court, the boy initially pleaded not guilty to all charges but has now pleaded guilty.
