Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State, Togbe Afede XIV, has without reservation fully backed President John Dramani Mahama’s Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) initiative.

“ORAL was great news for all of us. It’s bad enough to suffer, but it’s worse to know that you are suffering because a few people think they deserve all that the state has to offer and get themselves involved in a desperate scramble for our limited resources under property-owning democracy,” Togbe Afede said during the President’s ‘Thank You Tour’ in the Volta Region.

“We support all your intentions, and all your plans to retrieve everything that was lost. Funds that were stolen, lands that were stolen, buildings, etc. Your Excellency, you have our fullest support. We’re excited that you decided to make it unattractive for anybody to embark on that road. And that is why you have warned your own appointees. It’s our hope they respect that,” he added.

While applauding President Mahama for this initiative, he also advised him against repeating past mistakes.

Togbe Afede also added that President Mahama asking his appointees to declare their assets without delay is a step in the right direction.

President Mahama’s ORAL initiative chaired by Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has been made responsible for collecting information regarding stolen public funds, properties and others.

Since its operations, the committee has reportedly received over 700 petitions from the public.
