Ghanaian politician, A Plus, has subtly jabbed the Director General of the National Communications Authority (NCA), Joe Anokye for failing to work his magic and secure the New Patriotic Party (NPP) victory in the 2024 December 7 elections.
Prior to being named head of the NCA, Joe Anokye was the Director of Technology for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) 2016 Presidential Elections Campaign.
It was during this time that he developed the elections results management software that allowed for the quick and correct tallying of the Presidential and parliamentary results in the 2016 General Elections in Ghana.
The systems allowed the NPP to accurately predict the outcome of the 2016 Ghanaian general elections less than eight (8) hours after polls were closed.
During the 2020 General Elections, Mr. Anokye was again appointed the Director of Technology and Digital Operations in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential and Parliamentary Campaign, and replicated his success in the 2016 elections.
After the 2016 general elections in Ghana, chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Charlotte Osei announced that the commission’s electronic vote transmission system had been hacked into.
Her comment led to suspicion falling on Joe Anokye for rigging the election in favour of the NPP.
With the 2024 election not going the way of the NPP, A Plus took to his X page to taunt Joe Anokye for failing to rig the election for the NPP.
According to A Plus, the 2016 and 2020 elections were won by the NPP because of the grassroot commitment and hard work, which were claimed by Joe Anokye.
He wrote on X, “Joe Anokye, the so-called man from NASA, who supposedly used his ‘technological expertise’ to secure victory for the NPP in 2016, couldn’t ‘NASA’ this election? Joe Anokye, do you now see that it was the hard work of the NPP foot soldiers that won the election in 2016? When the people demand change and the grassroots work tirelessly to ensure victory, someone from the shadows suddenly appears to claim the credit. So, why couldn’t you use your ‘NASA magic’ to win this election as well? Anaa wo NASA no asa?”
