Dr. Jonathan Asante Otchere a Political analyst and Senior Lecturer, the University of Cape Coast has reacted to claims the Ashanti regional chairman of the NPP Chairman Wontumi has become a man of God.
According to Political analyst, Chairman Wontumi can go and preach in prison after he has been jailed for destroying the forests and lands of Ghana.
He further revealed the NPP won elections based on deceptions and lost another election by deception.
Speaking on Onua TV Dr. Jonathan Asante Otchere stated, “You won election by deception; you will lose election by deception”.
He further revealed, “Wontumi has become a reverend, he said he will be a man of God, if he goes to jail, he can go and convert people over there. He has destroyed the lands Akonta Mining or so”.
“The forest he was operating in was a virgin forest who gave it to him”, he asked
Meanwhile, Chairman Wontumi is known to be the owner of Akonta Mining Company Limited which is said to have been operating illegally in the Nimri Tano Forest reserve in the Amenfi West Municipality of the Western Region. There have been calls for the prosecution of Chairman Wontumi for his operation in the forest reserve.
According to the government, the mining company has a lease to undertake mining operations in some parts of Samreboi but stated the company has no mineral right to undertake any mining operations in the Tano Nimiri forest reserve.
President John Mahama and the NDC promised Ghanaians to prosecuted Chairman Wontumi for mining in a forest reserve.
