Ghanaian Journalist, Bridget Otoo has questioned the Ghana Police Service for their continued protection and support to “wife beater” Kwadwo Adjei.
There is an ongoing child custody battle between one Karen Baaba Sam and Kwadwo Adjei.
Karen Baaba Sam and Kwadwo Adjei have been in a relationship since April 3, 2017 and have a daughter who is four and a half years old, but have now split up. There are two varying accounts of the split up which has confused Ghanaians as to who is speaking the truth amongst the two.
Kwabena Adjei claims Karen Baaba Sam had been engaged in an amorous relationship and also smoked undisclosed substances in the full glare of their daughter.
Kwabena Adjei claims after confronting Baaba about these issues, she packed her belongings, leaving the house and abandoning her daughter.
However, Karen Baaba Sam also gives different accounts of the story. According to her, Kwabena Adjei is the one who has forcibly taken their daughter from her.
She revealed she had suffered series of abuse and infidelity at the hands of Kwabena Adjei and decided to leave him after her reports of abuse to the Police went unheard.
She indicated that because Kwabena Adjei is a man of power and influence, he has bought the police and does as he please.
Baaba also indicated that Kwabena Adjei has in the past held their daughter and refused to return her in the past and failed to care for her, making her skeptical of entrusting her in his care.
After the split, Baaba claims Kwabena Adjei has been terrorizing her with the use of both goons and the Police.
A video shared on X by Bridget Otoo allegedly shows Kwabena Adjei storming into the home of Baaba what is supposedly a frantic search for her and their daughter in the company of a dozen or so Policemen.
Bridget Otoo quoted the video, writing, “.@GhPoliceService continue to provide protection for the wife beater! Yesterday the police raided Baaba’s home I don’t know why Ghana police wants to help this coward to kill her… #JusticeForBaabaSam #WeStandWithBaabaSam You would think Baaba is an armed robber… Whichever court gave this order has left me speechless.”
Ghanaians have been split into different factions of the story. While some have shown sympathy for Karen Baaba Sam, others have also sided with Kwabena Adjei, with others remaining in the middle as they argue they do not have the full picture to pick sides.
