Speaking on the floor of parliament during the debate for the approval of vetted minister nominees, Oppong Nkrumah noted, “Mr. Speaker the Honourable John Jinapor says that we can share with our colleagues, no matter the explanation that you give, what the people of Ghana are waiting for is that fuel prices don’t go up, electricity prices don’t go up”.

“That fuel is available at the pumps, and the light doesn’t go off, we wish our brother well, and we hope he delivers in that area”, he added.

Meanwhile, the John Mahama government will require a total of $89.90 million to procure liquid fuel in the absence of natural gas according to the GRIDCo report to avert the looming power crisis.

It has been revealed that the West Africa Gas Pipeline Company (WAPco), which supplies natural gas to Ghana, plans to undergo major maintenance work, known as pigging and will be unable to supply gas to Ghana for nearly one month.

Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) in a statement issued revealed maintenance of the gas pipelines from Nigeria to Ghana by WAGP was initially set to take place in October 2024 but the Akufo-Addo government postponed the maintenance to January 2025.
