Spokesperson for President John Dramani Mahama, Felix Kwakye Ofosu has expressed confidence in the current administration achieving more for Ghanaians with a lean government than the erstwhile Akufo-Addo government.
He indicated that in as much as the John Mahama administration has a small size of 60 ministers, it will do well in comparison to the Akufo-Addo led government which had 120 ministers and still put up an abysmal performance.
“Ghanaians have accepted that we will have the leanest and most efficient government,” he said on the Key Points on TV3 on Saturday, January 25.
“These are some of the ways the president can save money and get the job done and by and large Ghanaians have accepted this, he added.
Akufo-Addo had a large size government but delivered poor results, the Member of Parliament for Abura Asebu-Kwamankese further stated.
The Akufo-Addo led government made a record number of appointments, the highest under the 1992 constitution.
According to the government at the time, they never promised a lean government and justified the elephant sized government was necessary to assist in President at the time, Akufo-Addo’s ambitious development agenda.
