President John Mahama has boldly declared his government will make sure that Ghana’s light stays on.
According to John Mahama he met with all stakeholders in the electricity value chain, and they have been sitting since yesterday till today to come out with innovative ideas.
John Mahama reassures Ghanaians that, despite the threat of power outages, his government is focused on solving problems rather than assigning blame.
Speaking at the National Convention of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission Ghana, John Mahama stated, “Yesterday I called a meeting of all stakeholders in the electricity value chain, and they have been sitting from yesterday till today to come out with innovative solutions so that we are able to keep the lights on”.
“So, I can assure you that some of the ideas they have come up with, we will make sure that your light stays on and that we do not have dumsor as you popularly call it”, he added.
Meanwhile, the John Mahama government will require a total of $89.90 million to procure liquid fuel in the absence of natural gas according to GRIDCo report to avert the looming power crisis.
It has been revealed that the West Africa Gas Pipeline Company (WAPco), which supplies natural gas to Ghana, plans to undergo major maintenance work, known as pigging and will be unable to supply gas to Ghana for nearly one month.
Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) in a statement issued revealed maintenance of the gas pipelines from Nigeria to Ghana by WAGP was initially set to take place in October 2024 but the Akufo-Addo government postponed the maintenance to January 2025.
