Minority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh-Dompreh has revealed New Patriotic Party (NPP) Members of Parliament (MPs) suffered threats of violence at the hands of National Democratic Congress (NDC) hoodlums after vetting on Thursday, January 30, 2025.
According to him, had it not been the presence of police and their high level of professionalism and alertness, they (NPP MPs) would have been assaulted.
He claimed these supporters had been bused to parliament by members of the NDC.
The NDC hoodlums who started by hurling insults at them later threatened to physically assault them to the surprise of the NPP MPs.
“Parliament was filled with these NDC supporters and we didn’t even have the room to do our work as the Appointments Committee freely. When we ended the vetting yesterday, the police had to protect Afenyo-Markin and a few of us from the vetting hall. Only God protected us. They wouldn’t even give us space to leave the vetting hall. Party supporters threatened to attack us in our own offices,” he disclosed in an interview.
He added that some MPs were forced to spend the night in their offices due to security concerns.
The MP urged the Chairman of the Appointments Committee to restrict the number of people granted access to the premises and to implement strict security measures to ensure safety of MPs.
