Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang the vice president-elect has boldly stated Ghanaians don’t need rumors but need a proper investigation into the devastating incident at Kantamanto market.
According to Professor Jane Naana, Ghanaians must stop spreading rumors because it does not help anyone, particularly women.
She noted that TMA claimed they had been investigating a fire outbreak for four years now there has been no report on the investigations.
Fire erupted in the Kantamanto market area during the early hours of January 2, 2025.
Some traders at the Kantamanto market say they suspect that the NDC is behind the devastating fire outbreak. According to them, they believe that some members of the NDC deliberately set the market on fire to secure the space for their people, now that they are in power.
Vice President-elect visiting the burnt Kantamanto market for first-hand information on the fire disaster, dispelled the rumors while speaking to the traders, “What work are you doing that you want to come and burn someone’s market, some people have been in this market for long, they have not been sitting just at home doing nothing, they have been working and sitting quietly”.
“They have created work for themselves and are not asking people to give them work, they are helping themselves and you are coming to evacuate them to add up to the huge numbers not working, is this a good thing or a bad thing”, she stated.
Prof. Naana further called on a proper investigation of the Kantamanto fire incident, “We don’t need rumors, we need a proper investigation, we have called for this so many times, we came to TMA, they claim they are investigating the situation for 4 years now where is the report”.
“The rumors are not helping us, it does not help anyone, particularly it does not help the women, we are the ones holding the homes and family”, she added.
