Two teenage girls have stolen cash amounting to Ghc40,000 and an undisclosed amount of gold.
The two girls robbed a business gold-buying agent at Twifo Praso in the Twifo Atti Morkwa District of the Central Region.
The girls, believed to be aged 10 and 16 years were caught on CCTV committing the crime.
According to reports, the two girls visited the shop around 11 a.m. yesterday to purchase mercury for gold extraction.
But there was no one in the shop upon their arrival. Upon meeting the absence of the shop attendant, the older girl was caught in video searching through the table drawer in the shop.
After searching for a few minutes, she picked out a black polythene back which is suspected to have contained the money and quickly hid it in the bag of the younger girl.
The girls after completing the crime exited the shop to make their getaway, but were met at the entrance by the unsuspecting shop attendant.
They returned to the shop to purchase the mercury so not to blow their cover.
It was not until two hours later, when another customer came in to sell gold, that the shop attendant discovered the money and gold were missing.
