Minority leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin has made some predictions into which Members of Parliament (MP) are going to be named ministers and lead the Majority caucus of parliament.
His predictions follows the nomination of three MPs for ministerial appointments yesterday, January 9, 2024 by President John Dramani Mahama.
Majority leader Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has been nominated for Finance Minister, John Abdulai Jinapor has been also nominated for Energy Minister and Dr. Dominic Ayine also being nominated to be Minister for Justice and Attorney-General.
Following their appointments, Afenyo-Markin stood on the floor of parliament to predict some incoming appointments.
He named Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah, the Deputy Majority Leader, as the incoming Minister for Lands and Natural Resources.
He also mentioned the Deputy Majority Chief Whip, Ahmed Ibrahim, will be appointed as Minister of Local Government and Decentralisation.
“Mr. Speaker I can see the incoming Majority Leader and his deputy conferring… Those of us in opposition, we know more things than those of you in government. So, if you ask me I can tell all of you where you are going. But you don’t know and that is how it is. Armah Kofi Buah is going to lands. Nobody will stop it. Kwame Abodza is going to roads and highways. We know Ahmed Ibrahim is going to local government and a lot of you will remain at the backbench,” he rocked the house with laughter.
Afenyo Markin also named MP for Builsa, Dr. Clement Apaak as the next Deputy Minister for Education.
Taking over the leadership of the Majority Caucus in Parliament, he tipped MP for Bawku Central, Mahama Ayariga as the next Majority leader with MP for Cape Coast South, George Ricketts-Hagan as his deputy.
