Ghanaian dancehall musician, Shatta Wale has heaped praises on Vybz Kartel, labelling him an angel.
Shatta Wale made this proclamation during his performance at the Freedom Street Concert organized by Vybz Kartel in Jamaica on December 31st, 2024.
During his set, Shatta Wale paused mid way to hail Vybz Kartel, expressing his love and admiration for the global dancehall icon.
“I am coming all the way from Africa just to support this man. This man is an angel in Africa. Vybz in flesh, I love you soo much daddy,” Shatta Wale’s voice echoed at the concert.
Shatta Wale shared his heartfelt appreciation with Vybz Kartel for giving him the opportunity to perform for the first time in Jamaica.
“Daddy I just want to say thank you so much. I have never performed in Jamaica before. This is my 1st time and I am always wishing to perform with you on stage. God bless you. Jamaica I love you one love.”
Preaching unity at the concert, Shatta Wale also highlighted the fact that Africans love and support Jamaican music, stated, “So anywhere you dey, know sey Ghana support Jamaica, one family.”
Vybz Kartel served more than a decade of a murder sentence before his conviction was overturned.
Despite imprisonment and a radio ban, his influence grew as he designed a makeshift studio in prison to record and release songs for his fans.
After his release from prison, Vybz Kartel chose to make a statement of his return with a concert, the Freedom Street Concert which was well attended by his fans who got their monies worth.
