The incident took place at the Greater Accra Regional Office of the Electoral Commission, where the collation center was ransacked.

The Electoral Commission had planned to resume the collation process on Friday, January 17, 2025.

However, the process was disrupted when over 40 individuals stormed the venue, ordered everyone to leave, and vandalized property, including louvre blades and doors.

According to eyewitnesses, the attack occurred as media personnel and officials were waiting for collation to begin.

The motive for the attack remains unknown, raising serious concerns about the safety of Electoral officers, properties and the credibility of the election results.

No official statement has been issued by authorities, and it is unclear if any suspects have been apprehended.

The collation of results for the constituency in question has faced several delays.

The process has been faced with controversy since January 8, 2025, when Returning Officer Vincent Obeng resigned amid disputes over the validation of pink sheets.

At the time of his resignation, Obeng indicated that the collation was nearly complete, with results finalized for four of the seven remaining polling stations.
