A middle aged mad was saved from the jaws of death after a failed attempt to steal a mobile phone in the bustling hub of electronic gadgets in Kumasi, PZ.
The man, instead of being lynched by the youth in the enclave was rather put to work to help keep the market clean.
In a video shared on X, the man can been seen sweeping the market and picking up refuse to properly dispose of them.
Some traders could be heard sharing their surprise at the middle aged man stealing.
One man can be heard saying, “how can such an elderly man come to PZ to steal a phone.”
He further advised him to get a job rather than make stealing a profession. “Don’t do that again. You need to find yourself a job. You’re a strong man so why steal? This should never happen again.”
Some X users also commended the traders for not lynching him, but rather putting him to work.
@DailyHappyMia wrote, “It’s good to see communities looking out for each other. Hopefully, this serves as a wake-up call about the impact of crime on all of us. the cycle of crime can be tough to break, but awareness is the first step!”
@BigQwarMhe added, “Commendable that the suspect was spared jungle justice—violence is never the answer. However, this highlights the urgent need to address unemployment and desperation in our communities. Let’s tackle the root causes, not just the symptoms.”
