Lead counsel for Oliver Barker-Vormawor, Nana Ato Dadzie has indicated that his client is willing to apologize and retract bribery allegations levelled against the Appointments Committee.
He made this known during Oliver Barker-Vormawor’s appearance before the Appointments Committee.
According to him, the honorable thoughts for the appearance of Oliver Barker-Vormawor and his legal team is just one, to render an apology to the Committee.
“He made the post essentially for a purpose and that purpose it appears to be read in another view. It is in this that he openly apologizes for that statement but it is to put it in context, Mr. Chairman….He wants to pray that he is given the opportunity to withdraw and to apologize profusely for the statement that is being reproduced here,” Nana Ato Dadzie told the Committee.
Oliver Barker-Vormawor was summoned to substantiate his claims that the Appointments Committee has been demanding money from ministerial nominees.
Bernard Ahiafor, the Chairman of the Appointments Committee on Tuesday, January 28 dismissed the allegations.
Mr Ahiafor at the Appointments Committee siting stated, “I’m ever ready to submit myself to ORAL. We need to stop certain attitudes. So, therefore I Benarad Ahiafor, and the chairman of the committee want to place it on record that myself and the committee members don’t demand money from any nominees before vetting and approval.”
“So, I am therefore directing the Clerk to the Committee to invite him to appear before the committee tomorrow [Wednesday] to substantiate his claims, or we will apply the necessary law”, he added.
