Some members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Effutu constituency have been angered by the party’s refusal to appoint the 2024 Parliamentary Candidate for the area, James Kofi Annan into office.
As President John Dramani Mahama continues to announce appointments to various state institutions, the supporters are dissatisfied that their candidate has been excluded from the list of appointees so far.
According to them, James Kofi Annan has done good work for the party and has to be recognized for his hard work.
In protest, some supporters stormed the NDC constituency office, chanting protest songs and vandalized party property to voice their frustration.
“When it comes to work, they want us to do it. Do we look like fools? After our hard work they are now appointing others sons and ignoring us. If not for James Kofi Annan the NDC would’ve collapsed in this town,” they said whilst destroying property.
The angry youth also set properties of the party on fire.
Some of the angry protesters stated that they worked tirelessly to help the party win power, even though their parliamentary candidate did not secure victory, they believe it is now time for President Mahama to reward their efforts by appointing their parliamentary candidate to a position.
