Traders at the Kantamanto market have accused the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) of worsening a massive fire outbreak by allegedly bringing petrol instead of water in the first fire tender deployed to the scene.
According to some traders, this mishap contributed to the rapid spread of the blaze, which began around 1:00 a.m.
The fire, described by firefighters as unprecedented in scale, has destroyed numerous shops and left traders scrambling to salvage their goods.
Despite the deployment of 13 fire tenders from across the Greater Accra Region, large sections of the market were consumed, leaving behind scenes of anguish and despair.
The GNFS has yet to address the allegations, as investigations continue into the cause of the fire
