Three people have been confirmed dead in the Agona West Municipality by the Municipal Health Directorate.

According to reports this fellow a cholera outbreak in Agona Swedru and nearby towns in the Central Region.

The information gathered suggests out of 200 suspected cases reported, eleven have been confirmed as cholera by officials at the Swedru Municipal Government Hospital.

The Agona West Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr Simon Asare made this known in a meeting with stakeholders at Swedru.

At the meeting, Agona Nkum was identified as the epicentre with numerous suspected cases.

Mr Simon Asare at the meeting pledged to collaborate with health officials to ensure that the contagious disease was driven out of the municipality.

Meanwhile, the meeting was attended by chiefs, Assembly members, members of the NDC NPP, Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), media practitioners, market women and drivers’ unions.
