President John Dramani Mahama has guaranteed the Ghanaian populace that his administration will be the leanest and most efficient in the nation’s history.
His commitment is an indication of his resolve to limit ministerial appointments to 60. So far, the president has nominated 42 ministers, with an additional 18 nominations expected.
Speaking at a swearing-in ceremony for six ministers at the Jubilee House in Accra on Wednesday, January 22, President Mahama emphasized that once Parliament approves these ministers and they are sworn in, he will proceed to appoint deputy ministers for select ministries, ensuring the total remains within the 60-ministers limit.
“I’ll proceed to name deputy ministers for some of the ministries, which will bring the total Ministers to 60 as I promised the people of Ghana. This will make this government Ghana’s leanest and I believe, most efficient government ever in history,” he said.
The president’s dedication to a streamlined government underscores his vision for enhanced productivity and effective governance.
By reducing the number of ministers, the administration aims to boost efficiency and minimize the state’s administrative burden.
