Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Youth Employment Authority (YEA), Malik Basintale has provided a brief response to persons who have questioned his qualification to head the YEA.
According to him, the only qualification one needs to serve the Ghanaian people is to achieve results.
When asked how he reacts to allegations of him not having the required qualification to lead the YEA upon taking over from the outgoing YEA boss, Kofi Agyepong, he responded curtly, “The biggest qualification is to create jobs for the Ghanaian people. Once we do that, we are qualified to continue serving the Ghanaian people.”
President John Dramani Mahama appointed Malik Basintale, the Deputy National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), as the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) on January 23, 2025.
The announcement followed the resignation of Kofi Baah Agyepong, as CEO, who resigned, citing personal commitments and aspirations.
Kofi Baah Agyepong, who has led the Youth Employment Agency for the past two years, announced his resignation in a letter to President Mahama. He described his tenure as “an honour and a privilege” and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to reducing youth unemployment in Ghana.
Mr Agyepong’s resignation adds to a string of recent departures among leaders of state-owned agencies and institutions in the aftermath of the December 7 Presidential Election.
