Ghanaian journalist Bridget Otoo has waded into conversations surrounding an altercation between Member of Parliament (MP) for Nsawam Adoagyiri, Frank Annoh-Dompreh and the Ag. CEO of the Petroleum Commission Emeafa Hardcastle.
A full blown out confrontation between the two rocked parliament on January 28, 2025.
The altercation resulted in Annoh-Dompreh being described as a silly child by, Emeafa Hardcastle.
Annoh-Dompreh who was not pleased by her actions has requested the Speaker of Parliament to haul her before the Privileges Committee to answer for her actions.
Following this demand from Annoh-Dompreh, Education Minister, Haruna Iddrisu (MP) has asked his (Annoh-Dompreh) to reconsider his decision, while asking Emeafa to offer a public apology and retraction of her statements.
Other notable members of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) have also called on her to apologize, while asking Annoh-Dompreh not to drag her before the Privileges Committee.
Bridget Otoo who does not side with the calls for the apology believes Annoh-Dompreh received a necessary reality check from Emeafa.
To her, MPs and politicians get away with a lot of “indiscipline” and “silliness” and need to be kept in line.
“So who disciplines indisciplined, silly parliamentarians?” she wrote on her X page.
According to her, MPs tend to use the Privileges Committee as a threat to anyone who is bold enough to stand against them, an occurrence she sees as an abuse of power.
“They seem to get away with any and everything while intimidating others with “privileges committee” she added.
