A shocking information has surfaced after the Office of the President released the official portrait of President John Dramani Mahama.
The information gathered from Ghana Chronicles suggests that the Akufo-Addo Bawumia government in 2017 allegedly spent GHS5.2m to print the President Akufo-Addo’s official portraits for public offices used in Ministries, Departments, and State Agencies.
The Mahama administration yesterday, January 9, 2025, released the official portrait of President John Dramani Mahama.
John Mahama in trying to avoid the sins of the former President Akufo-Addo in government has revealed his government has not and will not contract any company to produce John Mahama’s frame pictures.
Their statement added the portrait of Mahama will be the official picture to be used in Ministries, Departments, and State Agencies.
In the statement signed by the president spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu stated, “Government HAS NOT AND WILL NOT contract any company or individual to produce framed pictures of the official portrait in bulk for distribution”.
The statement further detailed, “The portrait captures the essence of President Mahama’s leadership and commitment to the people of Ghana. It will serve as a symbol of national pride and unity, reflecting the values and aspirations of our great nation”.
Some Ghanaians have also questioned the essence of having the Presidents portraits in offices.
However, according to a military person the Presidential portraits in offices symbolize leadership, authority, and unity. They remind people of national identity, respect for the presidency, and the continuity of government. It is a tradition seen in many countries to honor the role of the head of state.
