Ghanaian dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale has finally arrived in Ghana, following an impressive performance at the Freedom Street Concert organized by Vybz Kartel in Jamaica.
The dancehall king was met by a massive crowd at the Kotoka International Airport amidst cheers and applause.
A small traditional ceremony was also held for him at the airport as he was clad in a kente and complimented with other traditional accessories.
Shatta Wale put up a sterling performance at the Freedom Street Concert on December 31, 2024 delivering a number of his songs and thrilling Jamaicans to back to back performances of his hit tunes.
After his performance, Vybz Kartel said to the teeming crowd, “People believe me the culture is big. The culture we have is so big and loved by people all over the world. It is amazing. Shatta Wale is the king of African Dancehall.”
He expressed delight in the fact that great dancehall musicians, including Shatta Wale get their inspiration from Jamaica.
Vybz Kartel served more than a decade of a murder sentence before his conviction was overturned.
Despite imprisonment and a radio ban, his influence grew as he designed a makeshift studio in prison to record and release songs for his fans.
After his release from prison, Vybz Kartel chose to make a statement of his return with a concert, the Freedom Street Concert which was well attended by his fans who got their monies worth.
