The minority leader Afenyo Markin has fired shots at the Clark of Appointments Committee Gifty Jiagge-Gobah.
The minority is accusing the clerk of starting the vetting process without informing them.
According to them, they were in a caucus meeting and asked for some time. However, the clerk went ahead to start the process without informing them.
The Minority MPs then disrupted the proceedings accusing the Clerk of Parliament of sidelining with the majority side of the House.
Afenyo Markin stated, “If the Clark of parliament thinks he is here to do the NDC bidding he will see our true colours, we called for a meeting and we all agreed to have a meeting this morning, you chief whip we are waiting to have a meeting, who said we are against vetting”.
“You the clerk when we were in power insisted that until you get the minority you won’t call a meeting you don’t even notify us, you are doing your party’s bidding, this clerk is that a way a civil servant should behalf, you this clerk shame on you if you want to destroy parliament we will not spare you”, he added.
Afenyo Markin further insisted the clerk of parliament should respect the minority.
“Don’t mistreat us, the fact that we are in the minority, we have helped you no opposition has ever helped a government form its government as quickly as possible, this partisan clerk when I was a majority leader you insisted the minority must be heard, shame on you, shame, get out, we don’t want you here, we don’t need you as a clerk”. Afenyo Markin boldly stated.
