Pastor Elisha Salifu Amoako of Alive Chapel International has been seen publicly for the first time since the tragic East Legon accident involving his 16-year-old son.
He was spotted in a hearty exchange with Archbishop Duncan Williams at the UPSA Auditorium, where former President John Dramani Mahama is holding a National Prayer and Thanksgiving Service.
The accident, which occurred on October 12, 2024, involved Pastor Amoako’s son, whose name has been withheld.
The 16-year-old was driving a Jaguar SUV with one passenger when he collided with a Honda Acura on Mensah Wood Street at East Legon. Both vehicles caught fire, and two 12-year-old girls in the Acura tragically lost their lives.
Out of five occupants in the Acura, three were rescued. Two sustained minor injuries and were treated and discharged, while one remains in the hospital.
The 16-year-old suspect and his passenger were also rescued and are currently receiving medical treatment.
Following the incident, Pastor Elisha Salifu Amoako and his wife, Mouha Amoako, were arrested and detained to assist with investigations. Police have confirmed that the couple is cooperating with authorities.
A team from the Police Management Board, led by Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, has visited the bereaved family to offer condolences.
They also visited the injured victims at the hospital and assured the public of a thorough investigation to bring closure to the affected families.
Meanwhile The Family and Juvenile Court in Accra has sentenced a 16-year-old boy to six months at the Senior Correctional Centre after he rammed into another car in East Legon, killing two people.
The boy, who initially pleaded not guilty to eight counts, including manslaughter, negligently causing harm, dangerous driving, and driving without a licence, later changed his plea to guilty. Presiding over the case, Judge Bernice Mensimah Ackon convicted him based on his own plea.
