The Chairman of Operation Recover All Loots, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has revealed has made a shocking revelation against the Member of Parliament for Akyem Swedru in the Eastern Region, Kennedy Osei Nyarko.
According to Samuel Okuzeto Ablakwa, the Lands Commission records have revealed New Patriotic Party (NPP) MP, Hon. Kennedy Osei Nyarko, purchased prime Cantonments state land for GHS42,000 (US$2,800),
He further asserted that the transaction of the sale of the state land at cantonment was authorized by former President Akufo-Addo in 2021.
The land, now owned by the MP for 99 years (2021-2120), was acquired under a deal requiring an annual ground rent of GHS10,500 for the first four years.
Market rates for similar land at the time required Ghanaians to pay between US$700,000 and US$800,000 upfront. Making the US$2,800 price tag exclusively favourable.
The land, known as Cantonments Agric Mechanization land, was rezoned without parliamentary approval, displacing Agric staff and vegetable producers.
Hon. Kennedy Osei Nyarko, a former Deputy Agric Minister, is accused of colluding with the administration to repurpose the land for private gain.
Article 257 of the 1992 Constitution mandates that public lands are held in trust for all Ghanaians, raising questions about the legality of this transaction.
Lawyer Kpebu a member of the ORAL committee has also revealed that Okuzeto Ablakwa has a long list of former NPP government appointees who bought state lands for cheap even before the elections.
Meanwhile, Kennedy Osei according to reports gathered has locked his Facebook profile after Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa exposed him for purchasing state land at a very low price.
