Lawson TV/FM morning show host, Kwame Tanko has revealed that the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Chairman Wontumi plans to contest for the NPP National Chairman position.
According to Kwame Tanko, Chairman Wontumi in a phone conversation with him yesterday revealed his plans to run for the NPP national chairmanship position to rescue the party and capture power in the 2028 elections.
Kwame Tanko further revealed former president Akufo-Addo, the immediate past NPP flagbearer Dr Bawumia and Chairman Wontumi are currently in London.
Speaking on Lawson FM, Kwame Tanko detailed, “As I speak Chairman Wontumi is not in Ghana, he is in the UK currently, Chairman Wontumi plans to contest as the national chairman of the New Patriotic Party are you aware, that is the currently happening?”
“Chairman Wontumi has chosen himself, according to him looking at where the NPP is now they will need a National Chairman of his calibre, yesterday close to 30 minutes I spoke with him”, he added.
Lawson TV/FM morning show host further added, “He is in London as we speak are you aware the former president is in London, the immediate past flagbearer of the NPP the former vice president is also in London, Nana Addo is in London, Bawumia is in London, Antwi Bosiako Chairman Wontumi is also in London.
If you listen to what Wontumi is saying, where the party is they will need somebody like him, to bring the party back, he can galvanise support for the party, Chairman Wontumi is somebody there is something about him, he is easygoing, you can say everything about Chairman Wontumi but he is not boastful. He is contesting, don’t doubt me, he is coming”, he boldly stated.
