President John Dramani Mahama has named Prosper Douglas Bani, a former Minister for the Interior, as the National Security Advisor to the President.
Known for his vast experience in governance and security matters, Mr. Bani is expected to play a pivotal role in shaping Ghana’s national security strategy amidst growing concerns over terrorism and internal conflicts.
The appointment comes as President Mahama moves swiftly to assemble a team of seasoned professionals to strengthen his administration.
Mr. Bani’s expertise in handling complex security issues is seen as a critical asset in addressing emerging threats, including the longstanding Bawku conflict and regional instability.
In addition to this high-profile appointment, President Mahama has made several other key appointments across critical sectors of government.
At the National Security Secretariat, DCOP Abdul-Osman Razak has been named National Security Coordinator, tasked with ensuring seamless coordination of security initiatives across the country.
Retired COP Nathan Kofi Boakye will serve as Director of Operations at the Presidency, bringing his years of tactical and operational experience to the table.
Charles Kipo has been appointed Director General of the National Intelligence Bureau, where he will oversee intelligence gathering and analysis to preempt potential threats.
The President has also filled crucial ministerial positions. Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has been appointed Minister of Finance, charged with stabilizing the economy and implementing policies to drive growth and reduce the the Ministry of Energy, John Jinapor will return as Minister to tackle the country’s energy challenges and ensure reliable power supply.
For the Attorney General and Ministry of Justice, Dominic Ayine has been selected to serve, promising to uphold the rule of law and deliver justice reforms.
