The Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) preparatory team, led by its chairman, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has successfully halted an attempt by private developers to demolish state bungalows near the State House in Accra.
In a post shared on Saturday, January 11, 2025, Ablakwa revealed that the bungalows, occupied by staff from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Gender, Children, and Social Protection, were targeted for demolition by developers who claimed to have acquired the land last year.
According to Ablakwa, the National Security Committee, recently constituted by President John Dramani Mahama, intervened promptly to safeguard the bungalows.
He assured the occupants that they were not required to vacate their residences despite pressure from individuals described as “thugs” acting on behalf of the developers.
Ablakwa emphasized that President Mahama has categorically stated that no government bungalow is for sale.
He further directed the alleged developers to seek refunds from those who purportedly sold them the state lands.
“Notice is hereby served that those faceless private developers may proceed for a refund from whoever they purportedly bought the state lands from,” Ablakwa wrote.
The action by Team ORAL and the National Security Committee underscores the Mahama administration’s commitment to preserving state assets and ensuring that public properties are not unlawfully sold or appropriated.
This latest intervention is part of broader efforts by Team ORAL to address alleged illegal acquisitions of state properties under previous administrations.
It also sends a strong message to private developers seeking to encroach on government lands.
This has raised questions about the processes surrounding the alleged sale of government properties and highlights the need for transparency and accountability in managing state assets.
Meanwhile The Director-General of the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB), Nana Attobrah Quaicoe, denies claims that he contacted the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) Committee regarding the return of a parcel of land he is accused of acquiring illegally.
Team ORAL has this morning promptly acted on a distress petition from government workers occupying 4 bungalows behind the State House which were about to be demolished by a faceless private developer who sent thugs claiming they paid for the land last year.
