President John Dramani Mahama has named Dr. Johnson Asiamah to serve as Governor of the Bank of Ghana.
His nomination is pending approval by the Council of State.
Dr Johnson Asiamah’s appointment follows the current Governor, Dr Ernest Addison proceeding on leave pending his retirement on 31st March 2025.
Dr Johnson Asiamah has a wealth of experience in banking and has worked at the Bank of Ghana for over 23 years.
He served as the Second Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana between 2016 and 2017.
The newly appointed BoG boss holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Southampton, UK.
Dr Johnson Asiamah has been tasked to foster a stable financial system, as well as promote accelerated economic growth in Ghana.
