This follows President John Dramani Mahama’s submission of their names to Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin on January 5, 2025, in a formal presentation at Parliament House.

The nominations, which come after weeks of consultations by the President, were announced as part of efforts to address critical challenges facing the nation.

In his submission, President Mahama emphasized the need for experienced and capable individuals to steer the government’s agenda for progress.

The Speaker subsequently forwarded the list to the Appointments Committee for assessment and approval.

The nominees include Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson for the Ministry of Finance, John Abdulai Jinapor for the Ministry of Energy, and Dr. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine for the Ministry of Justice and Attorney General.

These individuals have been selected to lead key sectors of the economy, each bringing a wealth of expertise and experience to their roles.

Dr. Ato Forson, a renowned economist and former Deputy Minister of Finance, is expected to spearhead efforts to stabilize Ghana’s economy and address its financial challenges.

John Jinapor, an expert in the energy sector and a former Deputy Minister of Energy, will be tasked with stabilizing and expanding the country’s energy supply.

Meanwhile, Dr. Ayine, a seasoned legal scholar and former Deputy Attorney General, is poised to oversee crucial reforms in justice administration and strengthen legal governance.

In a statement issued on January 10, 2025, the Appointments Committee confirmed its preparedness to conduct a thorough vetting process, ensuring the nominees possess the qualifications and vision required to address the pressing challenges in their respective ministries.

This vetting process marks a significant step in setting the tone for the Mahama administration’s priorities for 2025.
