According to Carlos Ahenkorah, if he succeeded with Bagbin not winning as speaker, the NPP would have won the 2024 elections easily.

It will be recalled on January 7, 2021, Carlos Ahenkorah in Parliament snatched uncounted ballot papers during the Speaker of Parliament elections and attempted to flee with them.

Speaking on UTV Ghana, Carlos Ahenkorah stated, “If I did something like this, and I succeeded with Bagbin not winning, and we got an NPP becoming a speaker, the Speaker is like ten parliamentarians, so if it was 137-137 and speaker is on their side parliament is on their side”.

“Look at what happened to us in parliament up to this stage, if it was not Bagbin that was the speaker, and we had an NPP member we would have moved smoothly and these elections would have been won by us easily, but look Mahama is pleasing him hoping to retain him, Akufo-Addo that I snatched the ballot papers for he did see it”, he reiterated.

The NPP further detailed, “I felt that if an NDC become a speaker the problem we will have will become too much, everything I wrote in my message is what is happening in Ghana, because since the speaker was not on our side, he was never going to be in favor of anything that we do, and it will affect us”.

“We started losing the elections of 2024 from that day, when we allowed Bagbin to become the speaker of Akufo-Addo government”, he added.
