Chairman of Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) and member of Parliament for North Tongu Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has called on National Security to take control of five prime state lands allegedly sold to appointees of President Akufo-Addo.

This revelation follows a leaked document that exposes questionable land transactions involving high-ranking officials, including Nana Attobrah Quaicoe, the Director-General of the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB).

In a recent post on his X handle, Ablakwa revealed that the ORAL team had invited National Security to intervene in these land deals, which are reportedly sold to individuals close to the president.

The controversy has sparked concerns about the transparency and fairness of the transactions, with many questioning whether the lands were sold under questionable terms.

A particularly troubling case involves Nana Attobrah Quaicoe, who is reported to have acquired a plot of land in the prime Cantonments area for a remarkably low price of GHC 160,715.

The land, located within the Giffard Road Layout Extension Area in Accra, spans 0.24 acres and is leased for 99 years with an annual ground rent of GHC 6,720, which is substantially below market value for prime land in that area.

The issue escalated further when legal practitioner Martin Kpebu claimed that Quaicoe had voluntarily agreed to return the land to the state after facing pressure from the ORAL committee.

However, Quaicoe’s legal team has strongly denied these claims, demanding a retraction and apology from Kpebu, accusing him of making false and defamatory statements.

The controversy highlights the potential misuse of state resources and raises serious questions about the acquisition of public assets by government appointees.

The ORAL team has vowed to continue investigating and recovering these lands, urging the public to trust in their efforts to ensure accountability and justice in the management of state property.
