The Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) team is embarking on a tour to visit state agencies that have reportedly been ransacked, with the aim of investigating and recovering looted state assets.
The team’s first focus is on a series of controversial land deals that have come under intense scrutiny.
Chairman of ORAL and Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has called on National Security to intervene in the matter, particularly concerning the sale of five prime state lands to individuals allegedly connected to President Akufo-Addo.
The leaked documents exposing these transactions have raised serious concerns about the transparency and fairness of the deals.
In response, ORAL has invited National Security to take control of these land sales, including those involving the Mechanization Lands, the Development Authority (NDA), and matters related to state embassies.
A particularly contentious case involves Nana Attobrah Quaicoe, Director-General of the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB), who allegedly acquired a plot of prime land in the Cantonments area at an exceptionally low price of GHC 160,715.
The land, located in the Giffard Road Layout Extension Area, has a 99-year lease with an annual ground rent of just GHC 6,720, far below market value.
The public outcry surrounding this sale has intensified, particularly when legal practitioner Martin Kpebu claimed that Quaicoe had agreed to return the land after facing pressure from the ORAL committee.
However, Quaicoe’s legal team has strongly refuted these claims, demanding an apology and retraction from Kpebu.
Amidst these allegations, ORAL remains committed to investigating and recovering the state assets in question, urging the public to trust in their efforts to hold those responsible accountable.
