The lead Convener of the FixTheCountry and Democracy Hub Oliver Barker-Vormawor has been summoned to appear before the Appointments Committee over a bribery allegation.
According to Oliver Vormawor, the Appointments Committee has been demanding money from ministering appointed vetted before their approval in parliament.
Oliver has been summoned to substantiate his claims that the committee has been demanding money from ministerial nominees.
Bernard Ahiafor, the Chairman of the Appointments Committee on Tuesday, January 28 dismissed the allegations.
Mr Ahiafor at the Appointments Committee siting stated, “I’m ever ready to submit myself to ORAL. We need to stop certain attitudes. So, therefore I Benarad Ahiafor, and the chairman of the committee want to place it on record that myself and the committee members don’t demand money from any nominees before vetting and approval.”
“So, I am therefore directing the Clerk to the Committee to invite him to appear before the committee tomorrow [Wednesday] to substantiate his claims, or we will apply the necessary law”, he added.
Oliver Vormawor is now expected to present evidence to back his claims during the planned meeting on Wednesday, January 29.
Meanwhile, some members of the Appointments Committee on the minority side have called for the suspension of vetting until Oliver appears before the Committee.
