Political advocate, Oliver Barker-Vormawor has pledged a reward sum of Ghc2,000 to anyone who can bring him the head of former President Akufo-Addo’s destroyed statue.
Barker-Vormawor made this request on his official X page.
He described the statue of Akufo-Addo which was located at the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital roundabout at an “ugly statue” celebrating its destruction.
“The did is done. The ugly statue is no more. I am offering 2000 cedis for anybody who brings me the head,” he wrote on his X page.
Former president Akufo-Addo’s statue located at the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital in Sekondi has been destroyed by unidentified people.
According to reports the statue was broken down at about 1:30 am on January 13, 2025.
Prior to this destruction, the statue was vandalized a few weeks back when a hole was created in the leg, but was patched up not long after.
Unveiled on November 6, 2024, to honor the former President, the statue was largely criticized by Ghanaians. Questions were raised about its appropriateness and timing, particularly in light of other pressing developmental needs.
