The office of Alan Kyerematen, leader of the Movement for Change, has debunked a letter circulating on social media that purports to appoint him as the Acting Director for the establishment of the proposed 24-Hour Economy initiative by President John Mahama.
In a statement issued on Friday, January 17, and signed by Kwame Owusu Danso, Esq., Special Advisor on Communications to Mr. Kyerematen, the letter was dismissed as “false” and a deliberate attempt to mislead the public.
The alleged letter, attributed to the Office of President John Dramani Mahama, claims Mr. Kyerematen was appointed to spearhead the creation of a 24-Hour Economy board and secretariat, a key promise in the NDC’s 2024 manifesto.
It further suggested that the appointment aligns with President Mahama’s vision of all-inclusive governance to advance economic development.
Reacting to the claim, the office of Mr. Kyerematen condemned the letter as a “malicious fabrication,” emphasizing its complete lack of authenticity.
“This blatant attempt to create confusion and misinformation will not be tolerated,” the statement read. “Please treat this fake appointment letter with the contempt it deserves.”
The statement also cautioned the public to be vigilant and verify information through credible and official channels to prevent the spread of falsehoods.
The office of Mr. Kyerematen called on individuals and organizations to desist from such acts, which have the potential to undermine public trust and create unnecessary tension.
Alan Kyerematen, who recently broke away from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to lead the Movement for Change, continues to advocate for transparency and integrity in Ghana’s political discourse.
