Kwesi Nyantakyi, a former President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has dragged sports journalist Dan Kwaku Yeboah, and 3 others to court in a GH₵10m defamation suit.
The three others are Despite Company, Ringier, and ADPU Advertiser (a local company set up to manage Ghanaweb).
According to reports gathered Nyantakyi has dragged them to court over claims of corruption and mismanagement within Ghana’s football when he was the GFA president.
Kwesi Nyantakyi’s legal document asserts that comments made by the accused persons about his reign as GFA boss are mischievous and aim to tarnish his image.
The former GFA legal term indicated that claims made by publications and broadcasts by the defendants had no basis.
Kwasi Nyantakyi is pursuing a retraction of the defamatory statements, an apology from the defendants, GH₵10million monetary compensation and an injunction restraining the defendants from publishing defamatory statements about him.
Nyantakyi case has been admitted at the High Court for hearing with Justice Ali Baba Abature set to preside on the case.
