Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, the Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, has openly criticized the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), describing it as “not serious.”
Speaking about his decision to caucus with the National Democratic Congress (NDC), A Plus stated that the NPP’s attitude and approach led him to align with the opposition.
“The NPP leadership is not a serious one, and I’m making that very clear to them.
They don’t know what they’re about,” he said. According to A Plus, the party’s leadership has struggled to recover from their recent electoral defeat, which has affected their effectiveness.
He revealed that a day after the election, the Minority Leader, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, reached out to him and expressed interest in having him caucus with the NDC.
In contrast, the NPP delayed their approach and only engaged him through Kennedy Agyapong after a significant amount of time had passed.
“They were arrogant in their approach, trying to negotiate behind the scenes with deals that were not truthful.
When I called them out, they denied it. But that’s exactly what happened,” A Plus explained.
“The NDC has shown they are serious. They value what I do and who I am. So you go where you are wanted,” he stated.
