President-elect John Dramani Mahama has acknowledged the monumental task ahead of him as he prepares to lead Ghana once again.
Reflecting on the weight of leadership, he stated, “No man has yet invented a machine that can peer into the minds or hearts of human beings, and yet the responsibility of choosing a team to work with me lies before me.”
Addressing a gathering, he prayed for divine discernment in selecting a selfless and capable team to serve the nation, emphasizing the need to restore trust in Ghana’s democracy.
“We must be selfless so that we can gain back the trust of our young people, proving to them that democracy indeed works,” he said.
As the Fourth Republic approaches its 32nd year since its inception in 1993, Mahama highlighted its significance as the longest-lasting republic in Ghana’s history.
Yet, he expressed concern about the disillusionment among the youth.
“Many of our young people believe that the country is not working for them. It’s not opening opportunities for them,” he stated.
Looking ahead to January 7, when he will officially take office at Independence Square, Mahama reminded the nation that the moment goes beyond him.
“While I might be at the center of attention, lifting that sword and sitting on that chair, it is all of us who are going to lift that sword and pray that our country, Ghana, becomes great and strong,” he said.
“I have a huge task ahead of me. No man has yet invented a machine that can see into the minds or hearts of human beings, and yet you have to choose a team to work with you. I pray that God gives us the sense of discernment so that we can choose a team that will work for this… pic.twitter.com/7Cx0Sw4Mot
