Social media users, have defended President John Dramani Mahama against a ploy by a Pro-New Patriotic Party (NPP) X user to garner dissatisfaction against him (Mahama).
The X user sought to highlight the fact that President Mahama has appointed party faithful of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as Regional Ministers-designate to 10 regions.
Yesterday, January 14, 2025, the presidency submitted for Parliamentary approval the nomination list to fill 10 Regional Ministerial positions.
In a communication to the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, the presidency requested the vetting and confirmation of the nominated individuals.
In the statement signed by the Ag. Spokesperson to the President, brief profiles of these nominees were added. In these profiles, the various positions of the Regional Ministerial nominees within the NDC at the regional level were stated.
The X user identified as @Gen_Buhari accused President Mahama as practicing a winner takes all agenda with these nominations, stating, “From Mahama’s appointment, you can clearly see he wants the NDC party to directly run the government.”
Some X users would not watch quietly as the Pro-NPP @Gen_Buhari tried to pull a veil over the heads of unsuspecting Ghanaians and reminded him of the kind of appointments made under the erstwhile Akufo-Addo government.

@PreciousGugul18 – The difference is that while Akuffo Addo used his family and friends, Mahama is basing his appointment on merit, love for the country and hardworking.
