Ghanaians have taken to social media to applaud President John Dramani Mahama for appointing persons regarded as not belonging to any political party to head state institutions.
They regard these appointments as a step in the right direction, indicating Ghana is now moving away from the convention of populating state institutions with politically compromised persons, and now putting technocrats there.
Technocrats, including Professor Ransford Gyampo and Professor Kobby Mensah have been appointed to head the Ghana Shippers Authority.
President Mahama has also appointed some heads of state institutions and maintained their appointments despite protests by some National Democratic Congress (NDC) members who claim these appointees are not members of the party.
@Muftawu_Nabila wrote on his X page, “I like the way Mahama is appointing some NEUTRALS. We will see the difference between talking and working for results.”
Others have however disagreed with his assertion, claiming all these said neutral appointees are politically aligned.

@Muftawu_Nabila – I like the way Mahama is appointing some NEUTRALS. We will see the difference between talking and working for results.
@onlyoneghana – I’m appalled that the only intellectuals left are being mulled into political gimmicks. This sets a terrible precedent. They will lose their voices, which is bad for our democracy and small country with few intellectuals. Turning a political scientist into a political poster boy wasn’t on my bingo card.
@AmofahBaafi – Neutrals? Bro,there are no neutrals lol
@TheObengMix – Obiara boa, no one is neutral
@_NanaCwesi_- There is nothing like a neutral. Cowards only seek refuge under neutrality.
@kbrefo34334 – No one is neutral Everyone gets interest
@sheshoaa – They have to walk their plenty talk now.
