A group named NDC Loyalists Against Injustice has vehemently opposed the appointment of Anthony K. Sarpong as Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).
The group described the appointment by President John Dramani Mahama as disappointing and urged its immediate reconsideration.
According to them, the GRA boss is affiliated to the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), and may serve the interest of the NPP rather than support the government achieve its mandate.
They urged President John Mahama to rather appoint other competent people who worked tirelessly for the NDC to secure victory in the 2024 general election.
The group however commended President Mahama for his efforts in assembling a competent team for public service roles over the past.
It acknowledged his commitment to fulfilling his promises to Ghanaians by ensuring equitable representation in critical government appointments.
President John Mahama has appointed the Senior Partner of the KPMG, Anthony Kwasi Sarpong, as Acting Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).
The appointment was made in accordance with Article 195(1) of the Constitution and Section 13(1) of the Ghana Revenue Act, 2009 (Act 791).
