The member of parliament for Old Tafo, Vincent Ekow Assafuah has made a shocking allegation against the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the minister designated for Energy John Jinapor.

Ekow Assafuah has alleged that the NDC has instructed the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) to inflate light crude amounts from $70m to $90m.

According to him, the NDC have started their corruption again.

Ekow Assafuah is quoted by Oyerepa TV to had said, “NDC and John Jinapor have started their corruption again. NDC has instructed GRIDCO to inflate the amount of money for the purchase of light crude to power the plants from 70 million dollars to 90 million dollars”.

Meanwhile, the John Mahama government according to GRIDCo reports requires $89.90m to procure liquid fuel to avert looming dumsor.

According to the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) report funds are required to procure liquid fuel to operate thermal plants in Tema to meet the growing electricity demand in the country.

It has been revealed that the West Africa Gas Pipeline Company (WAPco), which supplies natural gas to Ghana, plans to undergo major maintenance work, known as pigging and will be unable to supply gas to Ghana for nearly one month.

Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) in a statement issued revealed maintenance of the gas pipelines from Nigeria to Ghana by WAGP was initially set to take place in October 2024 but the Akufo-Addo government postponed the maintenance to January 2025.
