George Opare Addo, minister of Youth Development and Empowerment has said the NDC government will prosecute persons found guilty by a probe into the NSS scandal.
According to Pablo, those found guilty in the NSS 200,000 ghost names scandal on the scheme’s payroll will be dealt with to serve as a deterrent to others.
George Opare Addo speaking to the media when he paid a visit to the National Service Scheme stated, “The state has rules and regulations, anybody who commits an offence against the state is given the opportunity of being taken to court so that his accuser put forward whatever evidence they have against him”.
“If the investigative authorities are done with their work and anybody is found culpable we shall use the full powers of the state to prosecute them and make sure that when found guilty they are sanctioned heavily so that it will become a deterrent to anybody who wants to do the same in the future”, he added.
Meanwhile, the reports suggest data of active NSS personnel have been inflated by 40,000 names. It is reported that the 40,000 ghost names are said to be working in state institutions and paid an allowance of GHS 715 a month and have been allegedly perpetuated for some 36 months.
The leaked information also alleged that Gifty Oware-Aboagye oversaw the payment of these allowances into the accounts of the 40,000 ghost service personnel.
