Ghanaian dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has revealed that the outfit he wore to perform at Vybz Kartel’s Freedom Street Concert was worth $15,000.
In a livestream session, Shatta Wale was heard saying “the shada I wear nu ei be $15,000 ooo. The shada alone for stage be $15,000.”
This revelation comes after Ghanaian Blogger, Bongo Ideas, critiqued Shatta Wale’s performance and outfit for the concert.
Bongo Ideas rated Shatta Wale’s performance at a low 3/10 citing various reasons for Shatta Wale’s failure to deliver a stunning performance at the concert.
He added that the dancehall king’s choice of clothing for the Caribbean show was a poor choice.
Bongo Ideas wrote a performance review of Shatta Wale’s performance on his X page, “Man was nervous on stage, his voice shook – “On God” & “Already” were bad choices; “Shatta City” was the ideal – Shatta lacked the energy to move the Jamaican crowd, performance 3/10 – Poor outfit for a Caribbean show – Vybz Cartel & crew crowded stage; making him feel & too small – Shatta should introduced himself by dropping some hardcore patois lines instead of thinking he’s well-known – Not tryna compare buh unlike Stonebwoy, Shatta lacks stage craft that appeals globally – he thought he was performing at Jamestown! – Not impressed, he could have done better; plane ticket wasted!”
Vybz Kartel served more than a decade of a murder sentence before his conviction was overturned.
After his release from prison, Vybz Kartel chose to make a statement of his return with a concert, the Freedom Street Concert which was well attended by his fans who got their monies worth.
Ghanaian dancehall artiste Shatta Wale was one of numerous top not artistes from around the world billed to perform at the concert.
Some Ghanaians have celebrated Shatta’s achievement, being his first performance in Jamaica, while others like Bongo Ideas have been unimpressed about his performance.
